Drainage is the biggest issue of the garden. Probably the puddles persist for only a day or two after rain. The walkway becomes partly flooded but you can step around the water. I'm not sure how big an issue it would be for the Outdoor Classroom.
How to address temporary flooding
- Observe how long the puddles persist. How big a problem?
- Verify whether the drain (left) actually works, or if it is temporarily or permanently clogged. Repair or maintain it.
- Dig shallow ditches from the puddles toward the drain. Shore up the edges so they don't fill in with dirt, and make places where people can step over them.
- Rebuild the two rain garden basins and plant them. If the basins are lower than surrounding ground, they will drain any standing water. Protect the basins from trampling.
